Here are the three SPOTLIGHT candidates for adoption this week from Chesterfield County Animal Services and local rescues.

Woogie is a black female cat with gorgeous long hair.  She is approximately one year old.  Buttercup is an orange female kitten about six weeks old and very playful.  Both will be spayed and vetted before adoption. They are looking for their forever homes and will make great companions for someone.

Jamison is a male Beagle around five or six years old.  He is very sweet and is looking for his new best friend. He will be fully vtted before adoption.

The adoption fee is $85.00 and includes all vetting procedures. Hours at the facility are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to all the wonderful animals available in the shelter, you can find more that are already rescued from the shelter and in need of their forever homes on the Paws & Claws Petfinder site, http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/SC94.html. The local rescues do a great job helping to save animals by fostering, vetting and finding homes for them.

Chesterfield County Animal Services also has a brand new Facebook page. Please search “Chesterfield County, SC Animal Services” and “like” our page! For more information please call 843-623-3585. The e-mail is animalservices@shtc.net.

Winter will be arriving soon and the shelter is in need of blankets and towels to help keep the animals warm and comfortable. They can be new or gently used.

Doggie coats and sweaters are always welcome as well. If you have anything you are no longer using for your pet, most likely the shelter could use it.

Chesterfield County Animal Services is also always in specific need of puppy and cat food, kitty litter and bleach at the facility at 467 Goodale Road in Chesterfield.

Donations of any kind are always appreciated and may be dropped off during regualr hours.

Hours at the facility are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and  11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

To help control animal overpopulation please use your favorite veterinarian to spay/neuter your pet or try one of these low cost clinics.
