Central’s math team excels

Central High School academic math team finished second in recent the 41st annual Pee Dee Regional High School Mathematics Tournament.
Three hundred sixty-seven students from 23 high schools in nine counties competed in the event, sponsored by Francis Marion University, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Pee Dee Education Center.
Central was the top team of the four whose individual scores on a common written test qualified them for the final round among the 11 Division 1 schools. Chesterfield High School finished second in the first round.
Lake View won the final round, Central was second and Chesterfield third.
Representing Central in the final round were: Sam Dresser (school winner), Genna Rivers, Makayla Kirkley (team captain), and Glenn Angeles. Other team members competing were: Kylie Mangum, Taylor Sowell, Andrew Cagle, MacKenzie Kral, Mikyra Joines, and Jackie Rocha-Medellin. The team sponsor was Gayle Mills.
