Central golfers down Cheraw

The Central High School golfers defeated their host Cheraw Braves in a 9-hole match 167-172 at Cheraw Country Club on Monday, April 23.

Scores for the Eagles were Ben Miller 37, Austin Terry 39, Matthew Terry 39and Trent Hutto 51.

Miller and Austin Terry played in the Prestigious Southern Cross Tournament at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken this past Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28. 

Miller had rounds of 74 and 68 to tie for sixth place overall. Terry fired rounds of 74 and 79.

”I was proud of Ben and Austin and the way they represented Central High School” Coach Chuck Hartman said. “We went to Aiken and stayed in homes of families and it was a wonderful experience. This was Ben’s third time there and Austin’s first. The Palmetto Country Club is one of the oldest in South Carolina. Our team has been playing in the tournament over 20 years. It is always special playing there.”

The Eagles will compete in the Region 4AA Tournament next Monday and Tuesday, May 7 and 8 in Cheraw.
