Along with its excellent and much appreciated coverage of the Pageland Chamber’s Annual Banquet, the Progressive Journal ran a brief mention of the new designation given to the Chamber’s one employee, Sondra Price. The Chamber appreciates that coverage also.
I had planned to issue a news release concerning the change, but I sort of announced it at the banquet and Bill Moss, being the dedicated newsman he is, did his job and reported it. Here are a few points I intended to make in a news release.
In December, the Chamber board of directors considered the amount of work now involved in the Chamber position, the performance level of that work and the expanded scope of Chamber programs for this year and in the future. By any measure, Mrs. Price has executed her duties admirably and with a level of professionalism that would warrant a professional designation in nearly any context, but especially in a Chamber of Commerce role. She is caring, dedicated and meticulous in her approach to her job. Sheisthe Executive Director of the Pageland Chamber of Commerce.
However, Mrs. Price did not invent this job. The position was actually raised to a professional level during the tenure of Darron Kirkley, who also did this job quite remarkably for several years. He was definitely a festival wizard and enhanced both the general awareness and appreciation of the Chamber’s work.
Mrs. Price has continued the high standard of professionalism set by Mr. Kirkley in running the Chamber office and executing the program of work.
Sondra Price is a tremendous asset to the Pageland Chamber of Commerce and the Pageland community. The Chamber is fortunate to have her and better for it.
