Great learning experience for girls, says coach

Jefferson’s Dixie Youth Angels softball team lost their first two games July 7 and 8 and was eliminated from the South Carolina Dixie Angels State Softball Tournament in Hanahan.
Aynor used only three innings to defeat Jefferson 14-1 in the first game.
Jefferson’s bats were silent as they were held hitless, while the defense committed six errors.
Aynor scored two runs in the first inning, five runs in the second and seven runs in the third.
Pageland eliminated Jefferson by a score of 10-2 on Sunday. Jefferson led 2-1 after three innings only to have Pageland counter with three runs in the fourth and six runs in the fifth inning after two outs.
Kylie Mangum and Alexis Robinson were the only batters to get hits in the game.
“In the first game the girls were nervous. Aynor was a more seasoned team. We also committed six errors which really hurt us,” Coach Kim Mangum said. “In the second game, we played much better on defense, but our bats were silent in both games. Hopefully, this was a learning experience for the girls.”
