Junior Lady Eagles win two against Cheraw

Central’s Junior Lady Eagles played only one day last week, but notched two wins in a doubleheader against the Cheraw Junior Lady Braves April 5 at home.

In the first game, Central trounced Cheraw 10-3 after getting seven hits in the game. A wild pitch gave the Junior Lady Eagles the lead in the first inning, but Cheraw came back tough in the third inning to score three runs.

Central answered with four of their own runs in the bottom of the third and never looked back.

Amber Leaird pitched all five innings and struck out five, walked two and allowed only one hit. Ashlynn Plyler had two hits including a double with two RBI’s; Payton Evans also had two hits (double), one RBI; Mikyra Joines one hit (double), one RBI; Kylie Sims one hit, one RBI; Brianne Middleton one hit; and Lanie Duvall one RBI. The team had six stolen bases in the game.

The second game was a little closer with the Junior Lady Eagles downing the Junior Lady Braves 6-3.

Payton Evans went four innings on the mount, striking out two, walking five and not allowing any hits. Karly Kirkley pitched one inning and walked one and allowed one hit.

Leaird had two hits, one RBI; and Duvall, Payton Evans, and Kaylee Price each had one hit. Leaird drove in one run in the first inning and the ladies picked up four more in the third.

No games are scheduled this week due to spring break. The JV’s will host Buford April 18 at 5 p.m. and travel to McBee April 19 for a 6 p.m. game.      

Win two, lose one

The Junior Lady Eagles traveled to Andrew Jackson March 28 and came home with a 15-10 win over their host team.

Payton Evans went five innings on the mound, giving up seven hits, seven walks, and striking out five. Amber Leaird pitched two innings and allowed two hits.

Kylie Sims had two hits, three RBI’s; Leah Evans two hits (double), two RBI’s; Leaird two hits, two RBI’s; Payton Evans one hit (double), two RBI’s; Ashlynn Plyler one hit, one RBI; and Mikyra Joines one RBI.

On March 30, the Junior Lady Eagles lost to Chesterfield 5-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on the road. Karly Kirkley pitched four innings, striking out two and allowing four hits.

Sims had one hit, one RBI; and Brianne Middleton, Priya Patel and Gracie Helms each had one hit.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Junior Lady Eagles’ bats got hot as they picked up 12 hits in the game. Leaird pitched five innings, striking out nine, walking two and allowed nine hits.

Payton Evans had three hits, two RBI’s; Leaird three hits; Joines two hits, three RBI’s; Lanie Duvall one hit, three RBI’s; Kaylee Price one hit, two RBI’s; Sims one hit, one RBI; and Leah Evans one hit.
