Jefferson and Pageland Rescue Squads responded with First Health EMS to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Kirkley Road near Jefferson at 4:20 p.m. Monday, May 7. First arriving responders found a small car with two occupants had driven off the road and struck a tree. The rescuers first task was to render the car safe by assuring that the ignition was off, the car was park and the battery was disconnected. Wood blocks known as cribbing were wedged between the car and the ground to prevent the car from rocking as rescuers treated and removed the occupants. Once the car was safe and stable, rescuers along with First Health Paramedics treated and moved the occupants, whose condition was believed to be non-life threatening, to the awaiting ambulance for transport to a local hospital. The crash is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
