A Pageland business owner wants to help those who cannot afford to buy coats, but is finding her efforts frustrating.
Brandy Lou Edwards, owner of Tropical Tanz and More on West McGregor St., started a coat drive, “but it’s been so frustrating.  I just can’t get people on board.”
Edwards distributed flyers to downtown businesses and has posted requests to social media.
Edwards is collecting new or gently used coats and jackets. She will clean coats if needed before distributing them.
Pageland Police Chief Craig Greenlee said his department will help distribute the coats, Edwards said. People can also come to her shop to pick up coats.
Edwards, who has lived in Pageland since 1993, said she sees people walking the downtown streets coatless.
