The Chesterfield Town Council and Admintrator David Huntley broke ground on a street project that will result in improvements along Bittle Drive, one block north of Main Street. The project will provide diagonal parking along the north side of Bittle Drive overlooking Craig Park along with a sidewalk and street lighting. This additional parking will provide more access for visitors to traverse to either the “new” courthouse or the “old” courthouse which now houses the town’s Visitors Center in downtown Chesterfield.
The $250,000 project is being largely funded by a $150,000 grant from the South Carolina Department of Transportation and is expected to be finished by the end of August. Work has already started with the clearing of trees from the north side of the street.
