Central coaches praise effort against Cheraw

Much was riding on last week’s matchup between Central and Cheraw high schools.
It was the 41st meeting between the two football teams. Each had won 20 games.
Not only was it a rivalry game, the winner would have the momentum in Region IV.
The result was an “old-school Central-Cheraw football game,” said Eagles coach Trent Usher.
It was a back-and forth game. It wasn’t pretty. There were fumbles, interceptions and a couple of calls Central and Cheraw fans will argue for years to come.
