Spring has sprung and Pageland yards are alive again. The Pageland Garden Club is proud to award the April Yard of the Month to Mrs. Peggy Demby of 1002 Sewell Street. For those that know Demby, her yard represents her well.  One cliché comes to mind…”neat as a pin.” For years she has enjoyed working in her yard.  She credits her sons, Jack and Eddie, with assisting her with the yard maintenance.

A Chesterfield County water company is set to receive a $350,000 grant, but some area mayors are resentful the money is going to a private company and not to municipalities.
Alligator Rural Water has been awarded the money by the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority.

The Chesterfi eld County Sheriff’s Department has
been suspended from a program that provides surplus
equipment, until an investigation into the possible
misuse of equipment is concluded.
The 1033 Law Enforcement Support Offi ce Program
provides equipment to law enforcement agencies and
the sheriff’s department received several items, including
a helicopter and an armored personnel carrier,
through the program.

This week we have to travel back only 11 years for our “Where Are They Now? “ athlete. Kenneth “Beefy” Chambers was a three-sport athlete for Central High School playing football four years and basketball and baseball three years each. He was selected all-region in football three years and all-state as a junior and senior. He was also selected to play in the North/South All Star football game played annually at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
