  • Eagles scalp undefeated Indian Land

    The top-rated Central Eagles soared early and stayed in control for a 47-21 Conference IV-AA football win over Indian Land at IL’s Reservation on Friday night.

    The 8-0 Eagles used early turnovers to forge a 33-7 halftime edge and cruised to the 26-point win over the previously unbeaten Warriors.

  • Eagles dominate Lee Central

    Central came out of the locker room ready to play their first road game in six weeks by jumping to a 41-0 lead at halftime and coasted to a 47-0 region win over home standing Lee Central last Friday night.

    Head coach Joey Mangum commented after the game, “I was concerned coming into this game. We didn’t have a good week of practice in some areas of our game, but we came out tonight and executed well and played a good game. Everyone got to play. We still have some players who are hurt but hopefully we will have them back soon.”

  • Joey Covington played defense

    This week we spotlight a young man who played on the Eagle defensive

    line and graduated in 1992. Joey Covington played strictly defense for

    Central at defensive end and also in the interior line. He also ran track for the

    Eagles.

    Joey and his wife, Shareca, are the parents of four children and also

    have one grandchild. The son of Dorothy and James Covington, Joey lists

    his hobbies as fishing, hunting, and attending his son’s football

    games. The Covingtons attend Word of Life Church in Cheraw. Joey is

    The Central Eagles opened their region 4AA schedule Friday night and celebrated their homecoming by posting a 38-0 win over the visiting Buford Yellow Jackets, keeping intact a 35-year streak of homecoming victories.
