Central boys region champs

Two pairs of runners helped Central reclaim the 4-AA Regional cross-country title.
EJ Threatt, the defending champion, and Edgar Guzman finished one-two over the 5,000-meter course to lead Central on Thursday.
The duo of Walker Kirkley and Gavin Edwards clinched the title, however, finishing 14th and 15th, giving Central a team score of 39 points, five points better than runner-up Andrew Jackson.
Buford won the girls title with Central finishing second.
Threatt led from start to finish on the course at Central High School.
Central runners Threatt, Guzman and Zykeim Bracey, who finished seventh overall , won all region honors.
Earlier this year, Threatt broke the Central record for the 5,000 meter cross country-race, timing 16:44. The record was held by Devin Coleman, who set it in the fall of 2013.
The Central girls were the defending regional champion. This season, the team consistently finished third or fourth place in region competition. Central coaches were pleased with the second-place finish. All-region runners for Central were Lizzie Outlaw, Isabella Mosley and Amber Leaird, who finished fourth, fifth and sixth overall.
Megan Flynn of Lewisville won the girls race.
Chesterfield placed third in the boys’ race and fourth in the girls’ race. Top finishers for Chesterfield were Noah Woodward, who placed sixth and won all-region honors and Faith Alford, who placed eighth.
