New salon restores cancer survivor’s self esteem

othing prepared Joanne Burch for the day she lost her hair.
Before starting treatment for stage two breast cancer in September of 2017, doctors warned her that hair loss is a possible side effect of chemotherapy.
Burch is a woman of substance who is always concerned about looking her best. She was in complete shock when she started losing her hair.
“I was sitting on my couch at home,” Burch said. “I must have rubbed my head because when I looked down, I saw a handful of hair.”
She started crying.
