A Jefferson man was arrested March 3 for allegedly walking down Main Street, waving a machete.
Melvin Lindsey Mullis, 19, of the 30 block of north S.C. 151 Business, was charged with disorderly conduct.
According to a Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office report, Mullis told a deputy he had the machete because he “needed protection.”
The deputy told Mullis that residents felt “unsecure and unsafe” with him walking down the street with a machete.
A deputy searched Mullis’ bag, finding a grinder and a green leafy substance.
