Veteran teacher shares how to make a difference

By Don Worthington

As Andrea Garrison, the teacher of the year for Chesterfield County, scanned the audience at last week’s back-to-school assembly, she saw many familiar faces.
Among the more than 1,000 teachers and staff were students Garrison had taught at Jefferson Elementary who now teach at county schools.
Her parents were in the audience, as well as several of her teachers who had made a difference in her life.
“Because I had you, I believed in me,” Garrison told her teachers.
