The town of Ruby is almost halfway in its fundraising drive to bring a medical center to its area.
The town has partnered with Sandhills Medical Foundation to build a medical clinic on Market Street where Dr. Michael Valverde once had his office.
S.C. State Rep. Richie Yow and Ruby Mayor Keith Bailey said the town has raised approximately $25,000 towards its goal of $60,000.
Sandhills Medical Foundation pledged to match Ruby’s contribution. The $120,000 will fund the renovation.
Bailey said inside demolition of the building has started.
