• Pageland Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament coming Sept. 14

    The Pageland Chamber of Commerce annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, September 14 at White Plains Country Club. Registration will begin at 11a.m. and the shotgun start will begin at noon.

    Golfers will be treated to a quick lunch and at the conclusion we will have the awards program and buffet dinner. Awards will be given to the first and second place team and then we have some fun in also awarding the last place team.

  • Family medicine open Saturdays

    CHERAW – Dr. Jeff Brock of Chesterfield Family Medicine in Cheraw will begin offering services on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon beginning September 8.

    Appointments are not necessary as walk-ins will be seen, but appointments will also be taken for Saturdays.

    Weekday business hours of the practice are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

    Wednesdays the practice will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    The Chesterfield County Economic Development Board announced last week that Chesterfield County now has improved the odds that an industry will find a site on the western side of Chesterfield County attractive. The 22-acre industrial site, located next to Wal-Mart Distribution Center on Highway 601 in Pageland is ready to go.

  • ‘Sales Tax Holiday’ is this weekend

    COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Retail Association (SCRA) has announced that the 12th annual Sales Tax Holiday will run from Friday, Aug. 3 at 12:01 a.m. through Sunday, Aug. 5 at 11:59 p.m. Due to the success of the previous tax-free weekends, the South Carolina General Assembly has set aside one weekend free of sales tax on back-to-school related items such as pencils, paper, backpacks, textbooks, computers, shoes and clothing. The three-day event is popular among South Carolina consumers because it provides a tax break as they make necessary purchases for school or college.

    “I am pleased to support the Alliance and I am looking forward to the positive work it will accomplish for our County,” Kiser said.

    Chesterfield County Economic Devolpment Alliance (CCEDA) is a a cooperative 501(c)(3) public/private non-profit organization set to bring jobs and economic stimulus to Chesterfield County.
    The CCEDA is seeking investments from private sector organizations to fully implement its strategic plan initiatives, and hope to reach its $800,000 goal. Local businesses have begun to donate money to help the CCEDA reach their goal.
