  • Petersburg’s kindergardeners perform ‘E-I-E-I-Oops’


    The Petersburg Primary School Kindergarden classes performed a musical titled “E-I-E-I-Oops” during a PTO meeting April 12.
    The cafeteria was filled with family members, school employees and community members.
    The students sang “Old McDonald,” “Ham it Up,” “Cute Chicks,” “Lost Sheep” and “The Whole Barnyard is Singing.” Several students from each class had speaking parts they had to memorize and perform.

  • Pageland Elementary celebrates high scores on AYP tests

    Students at Pageland Elementary School took a break from their studies Friday, April 29, to celebrate their achievements of acquiring high test scores on recent government-mandated exams.
    Principal Jim Heffner presented special T-shirts to 108 students for their results on the Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) tests. The event was held in the school cafeteria.
    Pageland resident and USC Gamecock football player Justice Cunningham then spoke to the group.

  • Hunger-Free Kids Act to start In Chesterfield County schools

    Chesterfield County School District Director of Food and Nutrition Services Missy Brown said that schools will receive an additional six cents in meal reimbursement and anticipation for those schools meeting compliance for higher reimbursement could be received during the 2012-2013 school year.  The compliance will include a new meal pattern for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.

  • Local student Todd E. Jordan receives National Honor

    Atlanta, GA – The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) announced April 8 that Central High School student Todd E. Jordan from Pageland has been selected for membership. The Society recognizes top scholars and invites only those students who have achieved academic excellence. 

  • NETC Summer registration is May 11

    Open registration for Northeastern Technical College’s summer term will be held on Wednesday, May 11, at the main campus in Cheraw.
    Returning students can register from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. New students should attend orientation at 8:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. and register for classes afterwards.  

  • Fun in the Sun Day at Central

    Students with all A’s and B’s and no disciplinary referrals were the honored guests at Central High School’s first ever “Fun in the Sun Day” on April 15.

  • Petersburg Primary hosts School Board meeting

    The Board of Education was the latest to recognize the Central High School football team for winning the 2010 state title. The board also gave special recognition to students who excelled off the field as well. Parker Eubanks of New Heights and Cathryn Rummage of Cheraw Intermediate, were both awarded the State Superintendent’s Writing Award, presented by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction J.R. Green. 

     

  • Petersburg Primary hosts Career Day

    Professionals in Pageland met at Petersburg Primary to speak with second graders about their individual careers last Wednesday, April 13.

     

    Alida Vizcaino, came to Pageland from Columbia, South America to work as the English as Second Language(ESL) teacher. Vizcaino described to the children what its like to be a translator. She said she traveled around the world and met with many people.

  • Sirr Purr visits McBee Elementary
