• Burnie Ballard, well known defense attorney, dies of heart attack

    Burnie William Ballard, a well-known Pageland attorney and civic leader, died suddenly Saturday night of a heart attack at age 60.

    Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. today (Tuesday, Dec. 7) at Sutton-Baumgartner Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Pageland with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

    Mr. Burnie William Ballard, 60, of Pageland, SC passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010.

    Mr. Ballard is the son of Betty Hinson Ballard and the late Billy Ward Ballard.

    Mr. Ballard served in the US Air Force; a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Clemson University, University of South Carolina School of Law, Juris Doctor. Mr. Ballard owned and operated his own law practice in Pageland, South Carolina.

         Kali Jade Tadlock celebrated her 6th birthday on Nov. 27, 2010 at Extreme Play with a Ariel party theme with family and friends. She is the daughter of Kayla Tadlock of Jefferson and Tracy Tadlock of Pageland.
       Grandparents are Scott and Joanie Austin of Jefferson and Craig and Libby Tadlock of Pageland, and the late Graylon Jowers of Jefferson. Great-grandparents are Dillon and Ruth Mills of Pageland.

    Brittany Danielle Gordon and Evan Monroe Rivers were married on July 24, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon at Union Hill Baptist Church in Pageland, S.C. The Reverend Robert A. Dickard officiated the double ring ceremony. A reception followed at the Union Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center, given by the parents of the bride. A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents at their home on Friday evening.

  • Arson arrest made in house fire

    A 22-year-old man was charged on Thursday with setting a fire that destroyed the home he was living in with his grandmother and two other people.

     PAGELAND – Mr. Junior Wallace, 44, died December 2, 2010 at his home. A funeral service was held
     December 4, 2010 at Center Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

    Daughter: Miranda Leigh Wallace of the home;
    Mother, Dianne L. Wallace of Pageland.

  • Mary Blakeney Edgeworth

    LANCASTER – Mary Blakeney Edgeworth, died November 14, 2010. A funeral service was held November 18, 2010 at Rose Hill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
    Surviving are, sons, Broadus Threatt, Jr of Monroe, and Aaron Edgeworth of the home; daughters, Drusilla Moore and Anita Blakeney of Pageland; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
    King’s Funeral was in charge of the arrangements.

  • Celebrating 91 years

    Nellie Boone of Lancaster celebrated her 91st birthday on Sept. 9, 2010. A cookout was held in her honor at the home of her grandson, Todd Courtney, and his wife Susan in Lancaster.  She has four children, the late Donnie Courtney and his wife Jenny of Pageland, Nancy Stegall and her husband Tom of Waxhaw, NC, Minnie Miles and her husband David of Jefferson and Linda Storey and her husband Bryan of Anderson. She has nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

  • Weaver birth announced

    Daniel and Niki Weaver of Lancaster, SC announce the birth of a daughter, Krista Elizabeth Weaver, born October 16, 2010 at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, S.C. She weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and measured 19 inches. She joins sisters Savannah 11, and Madison 5.
    Grandparents are Carolyn Weaver and Melvin Thompson of Pageland and Patricia McDonald of Shelby, N.C. Great-grandparents are Viola Sikes of Ruby and Robert Deery of Shelby.
