     PAGELAND – Memorial services for Joan Rollings Taylor, 56, were held Thursday, October 21, at 3:00 p.m. at New Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Metcalf officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church sanctuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan Taylor Memorial Fund, c/o Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, SC.

     CHERAW – Mr. Michael David “Mike” Johnson, 45, died  October 20, 2010 at his home. A graveside service was held October 24, 2010 at Living Hope Church Cemetery. Surviving are, Mother and Stepfather, Mary Alice and Junior Williams of Ruby.  Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield, was in charge of the arrangements.

    More facts have come to light about a proposed new headquarters for Lynches River Electric Cooperative in Pageland. The evidence weighs heavily in favor of going forward.

  • Three candidates file for District 6 seat

    The lineup is set for the special election to fill the District 6 Pageland Town Council seat.

    John W. “Johnny” Knight Jr. and Janet E. Mangum filed for the seat last week, joining Neil Griffin, who had filed in the first week of the filing period.

    The election will be held Tuesday, Dec. 7, for residents of District 6 only. Residents can vote at the Pageland Community Center or the Fire Department from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 7. A candidate must win a majority in order to be elected.
