Dixon lays out priorities after win

Barring a successful write-in campaign, James Dixon will be sworn in as Chesterfield County’s first African-American sheriff in January.
Dixon received 64.3 percent of the vote in last Tuesday’s Democratic primary, defeating incumbent Jay Brooks.
Results were certified last week.
It was the second straight sheriff’s election for them. Both have worked for the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and have long law enforcement careers.
