• 'Saving Wonderland' holds encore performances

    RUBY — After three sellout performances of the whimsical play “Saving Wonderland,” DramaMama Studio is staging two encore performances of the show this weekend. Shows are 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Creative Spot in Ruby.

  • Jefferson hears recreation request

    JEFFERSON — Facing a changing of the guard, the Jefferson Dixie Youth baseball organization has suggested that the town could help the league if it would create a Recreation Department.

    Becky Burch stepped down after eight years as president of the organization. She was replaced by Tommy Cato, who won election to the post Sunday during a meeting here.

    Burch and Cato raised the idea last week during a Jefferson Town Board meeting.

    The Central Eagles opened their region 4AA schedule Friday night and celebrated their homecoming by posting a 38-0 win over the visiting Buford Yellow Jackets, keeping intact a 35-year streak of homecoming victories.
